MARIS now offers its ECDIS customers an update service for both ENC’s and ARC’s with seamless integration / presentation in scale. By means of a simple update wizard users may now select to update displayed chart, all charts or charts along a specified route by the simple “click” of a mouse button. Updates are automatically received and loaded into the ECDIS with implemented updates being displayed to the navigator both in text and graphically to illustrate the changes implemented. For the ARC’s charts the updated tiles may, in addition, be printed on a colour printer and glued onto the paper chart.

The MARIS e-mail update service has been in operation with the Norwegian Coastal Directorate since February of this year providing Norwegian Pilots with e-mail updates of ENC charts used in pilotage. For this service ECC has developed interfaces and protocols for the Primar server that are compatible with the MARIS ECDIS900 e-mail update service.
